WESTERN AUSTRALIA (WA)

Father’s Day 2007 Festival
TouchWest will be participating in the Father’s Day 2007 Festival at Synergy Parkland (May Drive, Kings Park & Botanic Garden) in Perth this Sunday 2 September, 2007.
You can make Dad’s day with a fun-filled visit to Synergy Parkland with a choice of 50 fantastic activities for the whole family.
It is anticipated that around 3000 families will be participating in the event.
TouchWest will be conducting demonstration games, selling merchandise, and promoting the upcoming summer seasons across the state.

Applications to host rounds of the 2007/2008 Super League Series are now open. The Super League Series is a tournament for affiliates in the Perth Metropolitan area. The best of the best from clubs will battle it out in Men’s and Women’s Open divisions over 10 rounds of competition.
The competition will run on a weekly basis at various venues across Perth from November until January. There is also a one day Mixed tournament. The relevant tender documents are available from the TouchWest website.

VICTORIA (VIC)

Touch Football Victoria establishes its own Set of Six in Touch
Touch Football Victoria has launched its’ own weekly Set of Six.
Touch Football Australia Women in Media Leadership Workshop participant and Journalism student, Stephanie Chalkley-Rhoden will regularly contribute the Set of Six for Victoria.
The weekly publication will be available on the Touch Victoria website and will be filled with useful information about results, developments and upcoming events on Victoria’s Touch Football calendar.
The first issue has been published and is ready for viewing on the Touch Football Victoria website.
Other events:
- Wangaratta has applied to become Victoria’s newest affiliate. The inaugural Wangaratta season will kick off in October with a 6 – 10 team competition.
- The Victorian Schools Touch Football League for Metro teams has been confirmed for term one, 2008. The series will involve boys from Year 7 – 8 and Year 11 – 12, and for the first time a girl’s competition will run for those in Year 7 – 8.
- Ballarat Touch is planning a Good Friday tournament. The tournament will aim to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal and also improve the profile of Touch in the district. The Ballarat Foundation has named Ballarat Touch president Tim Cromb Volunteer of the Year for his work in the community.
- Yarrawonga and Shepparton Touch leagues have just announced new presidents for their respective committees for season 2007-2008.

Southern Touch Winter 2007 Grand Finals
Southern Touch’s Winter 2007 season has climaxed with some nail-biting Grand Finals on Friday 24th August.
The season’s Best and Fairest players from each division have also been named.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA (SA)

Touch Football South Australia Funding Concludes
The South Australian Government’s Incentive Funding for Coaching and Officiating Pilot Projects has come to an end.
The Office of Recreation & Sport supplied funding for Touch Football South Australia to:
- Develop the foundations of a formal coach development program and pathway for SA
- Improve levels of coaching within SA
- Introduce an additional 6 – 10 coaches into the newly created pathway
In response to the funding Touch Football South Australia conducted a High Performance Player weekend and a High Performance Coaching Forum. Both sessions included interstate coaches and players working together to share their knowledge and experience.
Touch Football South Australia has introduced regular forums for coaches to work together sharing knowledge and providing support for each other to sustain coaches in coaching roles. A mentor program for South Australian and interstate coaches has also been established.
Touch Football South Australia is very pleased with the introduction of the pilot program and the support from both inside and outside the state.
The organisation would like to thank Coaching and playing mentors Wayne Grant, Dean Russell, Bernie Morrison,Tony Eltakchi, Karley Banks, Jason Stanton, Amy Fong, and Garry Sonda for giving up their time to work with players & coaches in South Australia.

Registration for the 2007 Australian Masters Games is still open. The Games will take place from 5 – 14 October with Touch being played from 11 – 14 October. Touch Football South Australia urges any interested parties to get involved.

NORTHERN TERRITORY (NT)

Under-18 Teams finalised for National Championships
The Northern Territory Under-18 coaches and selectors have finalised the teams to attend the Under-18 National Championships in Coffs Harbour, 17 – 20 September, 2007.
Touch Football Northern Territory wishes all the players the best of luck for the Championships and is sure they will represent the Northern Territory with pride on and off the field.

Other events:
Northern Territory School Sports Championships and Exchange will be played in Darwin this week. Team selections for the National Schools Championships in Melbourne in October will be done at this tournament.

AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY (ACT)

ACT Touch Summer Competitions Starting Soon
As the current Winter Season draws to a close, ACT Touch is calling for nominations for the upcoming Summer Season.
As in previous seasons, ACT will be offering a number of divisions across several nights, predominantly at the Deakin Fields.
The season commences on Tuesday 2 October 2007 and runs through until 28 February 2008 with a 3 – 4 week recess over Xmas.
An early bird incentive price of $950/team is available until 12 September 2007.
Summer is generally a far bigger competition season than winter and ACT Touch is expecting a rush of teams nominating, so get in fast to secure your position in the competition. For more information phone (02) 6212 2880
